How Fast Can I Potty Train My Dog?

Friday, July 15th, 2011

Are you potty training a puppy and want to know what’s the absolute fastest time you can have your dog potty trained? If this sounds like you, then you’re not alone. This short article will go over what you need to know to be able to determine how long it will take to potty train your dog.

To make things easier, let’s assume your dog has had no past potty training experience and is between the ages of 4 months old and 1 year old. The next main thing that will determine how long it will take your dog to be potty trained is your dog’s intelligence. The smarter your dog is the faster he will learn his potty training. The opposite is true for less intelligent dogs. If your dog is a hunting dog, a tracking dog, or a herding dog, then you are in luck because your dog will become potty trained much faster than other dogs, perhaps even within a week of training.

My Dog Ingested Something Poisonous

Saturday, July 9th, 2011

Last week, my husband was out of town, I was doing some yard work and found myseld needing a vet in san diego. Lucy was out running around chasing the squirrels as per usual. We have a very large yard and I cannot always see her. She came walking up to the house and seemed pretty tired, (which is not abnormal after her play sessions). I offered her water and she was not interested. That was my first point of concern. Within a few minutes her breathing started to seem labored. By that point it should have been slowing down but was getting worst. I immediately called Otay and suggested I bring her in. As soon as I began to load her up she began vomiting. FUN! I got her there and it turns out she had got into and ingested a poisonous tree. We had removed all plants that we knew were bad, but had no suspicion about our pretty pink flowered tree being extremely dangerous. Turns out it was Oleander. So glad for their great expertise!

Important Features of a Rabbit Hutch

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

With the multitude of choices found online, some pet owners find it difficult to get the right rabbit hutch for their pet. It is perfectly understandable since most rabbit owners want to give the best for their beloved pet. If you are overwhelmed with different types of hutches and runs, you only need to look out for three essential features such as size, structure, and materials used.

Size is important to rabbits as they love to play around and are very susceptible to stress. Large enough to move around but not too big to lose a sense of security is just perfect. When it comes to structure, a simple box type will do but you need to make sure you can attach a run or a ramp to it. It will provide them access somewhere to run around and do some exercises. While you can go simple on the structure, it is best to invest well on the type of materials used. It has to be non-toxic as these animals love to chew. Look for durable materials that will protect them from predators.

Raw Dog Food Reduces Body Odour

Monday, May 16th, 2011

I have a pet who likes fatty foods so much. Well, he loves to take fatty processed foods. Whenever he takes those foods, he produces a stingy smell that I really do not like. When I made a research, I learned that those fatty processed foods contain harmful chemicals. Those toxic chemicals are waste substances which harm the immune systems of pets. Since pets could not cater them in the body, they are exreted producing a foul odor. I searched the net about an ideal food to avoid body odor. In my research, I learned that only raw dog food could omit a stingy smell. I could use perfume but it also has allergens dangerous to the skin of my dog. I learned a lesson. Instead of corned beef, I would give him fruits and meaty bones. I hope that he would love his new food for it is rich in vitamins and minerals.

Biting in Golden Retrievers

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

One of the worst types of problems your dog can possibly have is golden retriever biting. This is for the simple reason that it can harm others as well as harming your dogs health in the long term. To combat this we show you hwo your dogs biting issue may have developed, and more importantly how to combat it in the fastest possible time.

To begin with, golden retrievers have lots of energy that needs to be let out at some point. If it isn’t let out in a productive manner then it will be let out in a destructive manner. This is when your dog may develop aggression and biting issues as a release of energy.

The best way to combat this is to begin exercising your dog more frequently. Try three times a week out for a month and see if the biting problem has been remedied or not.

Questioning Cat Tree Reviews

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

Reviews are a great way to find out the actual facts and figures of any product. When you have a pet cat at home it makes sense to buy a cat tree but not before going through the cat tree reviews. This is because they tell you a great deal about why you should purchase such a thing, the designs and colors you can opt for, the quality, the prices, and lots more. Take for example when I personally had to buy one for my beloved cat I didn’t have any idea that I can get so much information about cats too. Some reviews suggest cat trees give great exercise for cats. I never knew that the claws of the cats foliate due to scratching until I read it in online reviews. When I saw the photos I did realize that it would benefit my cat in terms of health.

Time to Move on

Thursday, March 31st, 2011

The hardest part of moving on is letting ago, we hear that a lot it’s become cliche, but it’s true. I went to that site that offered pet memorials today and I was happy with it, it turns out that they get this a lot where people have problems letting go and there were tons of resources for me to find some information and hear other people’s stories about what happened. Finally I get the chance to do something that is right for my myself. This site was the best and I got the pet memorial I plan to put pictures in it and I vow to never forget what this great animal did for me, he was there when no one else was, and there’s the chance to show my appreciation. So I’m gonna do it, gone but not forgotten, that’s what I have to say and will be forever!

Saving the Bengal Tiger

Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

A Bengal tiger adoption through the WWF also gets you a cuddly plush Bengal tiger to have on your desk at work, or to give to a child, to remind you of the difference you have made in the world. It also comes with an update on the state of these beautiful tigers mailed out every four months or so (three times a year).

The Bengal Tiger’s biggest enemy is man. People poach these animals to use their skins for their soft fur, or to use their bones for traditional Chinese medicine. Where these tigers once roamed in huge numbers, Nepal is down to less then one hundred and fifty of these animals.

WWF works hard to create sanctuaries for these Bengal tigers where they can roam safe from humans. In a war for land between the tiger and a human, sadly the tiger will always lose, and in losing the war for space, it often looses its life.

Training a Dog is Teaching Him House Rules

Saturday, March 12th, 2011

Dogs need to know the house rules when you get your puppy home. This is why training your puppy is important. He needs to understand his place within your family. You need to teach him not to chew on things, to mark the house, leave food alone and not to guard his things. There is the basic commands that you teach him. Come. Sit, down. Stay and heel.

It you’ve purchased an Akita. Akita training is a must. These dogs want to be the leader and teaching them their place is necessary. Training your dog doesn’t mean beating him, it doesn’t mean that you break his spirit or make him a robot. It means you have a good dog that fits into the family.

Akitas are smart and stubborn, this is one of the reasons why they are hard to train for beginners. You must be firm and patient to train him. You must have an idea of what type of dog you want for you.

Dedicated Pet Owners

Monday, February 14th, 2011

Anyone can be a pet owner but not everyone will give the same levels of dedication and passion for their pets. There are actually people who take pet care to a much higher level. They arm themselves with the dog clippers, expensive shampoos, lush brushes and all sorts of other paraphernalia. Not all pet owners get a dog or cat just for the fun of it. For these people, taking care of their pet is like taking care of their own child. My uncle Andy for example is an enthusiast who owns more than ten Golden Retrievers in their house. Each one of the dogs are healthy and happy. Then there’s the old lady down our street who takes care of a dozen cats without any sort of complain whatsoever. There’s also this little girl who owns just one dog but gives treats it like her own little brother. These individuals have taken pet ownership seriously and it’s not just for fun.

Keeping Pets in Boston Apartments

Sunday, February 13th, 2011

You may be a Bostonian hot shot riding around New England’s capital in a Boston car service limo and living it up in every way, but you may still be subject to certain restrictions and inconveniences in your own Boston luxury flat, so you had better check your arrangement. For instance, some luxury apartment rentals won’t let you keep pets, so you have or intend to have a cat or a dog or even a parrot or an aquarium fish, you had better check the terms of your lease. Nevertheless, some renal locations (e. G. The Navy Yard) offer pet friendly luxury accommodations. Be prepared, though, that in some cases the lease provides for fines (yes, fines, monetary penalties!) that can be exacted from you if you break the terms of your lease, and this may include a fine for keeping a pet “illegally” in a flat where it is not allowed.

How Wireless Dog Fences Work

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

If you are considering choosing a wireless dog fence to train your pet. You should really understand exactly how this particular train tool works. There are several different types of invisible, electric and underground dog fences. In this article we are going to discuss the most common of the three. The typical wireless dog fence.

This type of device has two primary parts, the transmitter, which transmits a signal by using a high frequency radio wave and the receiver, which is attached to the dog collar that your pet will be wearing. Some of these products come with a collar and some must be attached to the collar that you pet is currently using.

The signal is sent from the transmitter to the receiver or receivers and when your pet decides to wander too far off, away from the boundaries that you have set, they will hear a beeping sound which will be followed by a corrective shock, if they decide to continue.

The First Hair-Clipping Experience

Tuesday, October 19th, 2010

It was the first time that my pet cat will have her furry hair trimmed with pet clippers. Her hair has already grown too long and it needs to be cut short for health and hygiene purposes. She looks very untidy with her long hair and it keeps messing with her food when she eats. Since, it’s her first trim I asked my brother to take pictures. As if we were in beauty parlor, I placed my cat in a high chair and put a cloth around his neck. The cloth was of course for picture taking purposes only because in reality I trim her whole body. After the trimming session, I gave her a shower and blow-dried what remained of her fur. After that, my pet looked gorgeous and clean. The shape of her face is clearly visible without too much hair. And because she behaved pretty well, I gave her a treat; a bowl of milk to quench his thirst.

Pet Fountains Improve the Health of Our Pets

Monday, October 11th, 2010

Pet fountains have gained in popularity recently. The reason is undoubtedly due to the fact that most pet owners are realizing their animals are not receiving enough to drink. For a lot of people that may not make much sense since after all, pet owners in general love their pets so they always make certain they get a supply of water, right? The trouble is with the manner of water supply we are supplying those dogs and cats. The old idea that said a bowl of water located resting on the kitchen floor can be a good enough water supply when it comes to the pet seems to have been found to be not adequate, and that is surprising to some pet owners.

Take a look at animals in their natural environment. But if the lone location to drink was from a stationary source, these animals are known to drink, but most likely barely just enough in order to keep them going until they find a superior source of water. It isn’t a huge stretch to say that the normal pet’s dish of water isn’t very different from standing water. If you think about it, while we believe are giving our dogs and cats plenty to drink, we can in reality just be supplying them with the bare minimum.

OK, if not just a bowl for water, then exactly what should we be supplying to our dogs and cats? A Fountain for your pet is the solution! The precise style you purchase will not be important. The right aim should be to give the dog or cat a moving water supply that he might find fulfilling and, every bit as significantly, attention-grabbing. The pet should have no problems consuming enough if you give him that type of source of water. The reactions to these 2 different forms of water source are at different ends of the spectrum and also really very amazing. Dogs and cats can get to drink and be fascinated all at the same time. When it comes to cats, they even will mess about with their water, sticking a paw into it as well as maybe just take a seat and stare at it. A ceramic pet fountain is a better choice for cats than one made from plastic, although a stainless steel pet fountain is even better.

The addition of a pet water fountain to their residence will make your daily routine easier on top of making their dog or cat healthy and happy. A fountain will do that because you are not going to be replenishing and cleaning water bowls as much, so while your dog or cat is entertained by his fountain, you can be released in order to relax or get things done.

American Bulldog Obedience Training

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

American Bulldog training has obedience training as one aspect and is the most important one in getting your pet to exhibit good behavior. All dogs are given to bad behavior at some time or the other, not because they are bad dogs, but simply because they are just behaving like dogs during those times. But by and large, with the right training you can have a loyal, loving and a fun companion who will be as much a family member as your kids.

When the American bulldog is trained to be obedient, he is taught to recognize the master as the leader and learns lessons in mutual respect. American Bulldogs are always ready to please their masters and occasionally rewarding his good behavior will go a long way in making your job easier. The training should start as soon as you bring your pet home and if you think you cannot handle it alone, consider getting professional help from a dog trainer.

Hairclippers for Dogs and Cats

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

Usually, pets feel restless as soon as they hear the constant sound of pet clippers therefore let your friend assist you in controlling your dog. Try to keep from rebuking or terrifying your pet. Work with the correct kind of blade for your clippers. The kind of blade will depend on the density and length of your pet’s fur. Your set of clippers will include the different types of blades which must be utilized at various areas of your pet’s body. Before you begin trimming, make sure you read the owner’s manual first to avoid any accidents. Next, gradually remove the hair of your dog. Clipping the fur in the reverse direction of growth will provide more desirable effects. Typically Pet clippers do not harm the dog but if you try an excessive amount of force then it might cut the skin of your pet. Subsequent to clipping the fur of your dog, make use of scissors to style his hair. Furthermore, bear in mind that clippers are not meant to remove face fur of pets. Rather, use the set of scissors to clear away hairs from your pets facial area.

Chewing Instincts And Indestructible Dog Beds

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Dogs are lovable and adorable creatures, and they are known to be man’s best friend. But they are also known for their powerful chews. They have this uncontrollable urge to chew when they are hungry or when they are anxious. This chewing instinct comes in handy when the need arises. If they can’t find anything good to chew, they settle for what’s readily available. When dogs are starving and they can’t find food, for instance, they chew your shoes.

In the house, waking up one morning to find your sofa shredded in pieces is a typical scene. Next to that is finding poo or pee on your expensive carpet or newly polished tiles.

These, though, can be prevented with indestructible dog beds. Indestructible dog beds are well-designed dog beds created to withstand your dog’s powerful chews. Your dog may chew every part of it, but it won’t be torn into pieces. This would save you a lot of money in the long run.
