Get a Plastic Shed

Saturday, May 14th, 2011

If you are in the market for a shed but you have a tight budget, you might want to look into purchasing a plastic shed. Plastic is durable against all kinds of weather and other potential damage such as yard work, kids and more! In most cases plastic sheds can be installed by yourself as long as you have a concrete slab. The great thing about plastic sheds is you typically don’t have to paint it. Also, when you shop around, make sure that you get a shed with steel reinforcement. Plastic has a tendency to warp over time and the steel reinforcement prevents that from happening. Another thing to look for is a product with a lifetime guarantee. If the company will not offer the lifetime guarantee it’s not worth it! In most cases you can get a great plastic shed for about $700 for a shed about 8 feet by 5 feet.

Gazebos and Canopies Make a Perfect Shade for Spring

Saturday, April 2nd, 2011

Spring represents a new beginning. It’s green everywhere and you’ll see butterflies flutter around the blossoming flowers and plants. The only way for you to appreciate nature’s burgeoning beauty is to go outside, sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery in front of you. However, nobody wants to spend the whole day looking at the whole world springing back to its new life under the sun. To protect yourself from the sun’s harmful rays, you need to have gazebos and canopies in your own backyard. Not only it is beneficial to your health, it also prettifies your backyard garden. If you feel that the shade from a gazebo and a canopy is not enough to provide you enough coolness that you are looking for, you can also install a fan into the gazebo. However, before you place a canopy or a gazebo of your choice, you have to do some necessary measurements to ensure that it will ideally fit in to your garden.

Planting Veg Seeds Can Help the Planet

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

My wife and I enjoy living in a sustainable way, because it makes us feel like were doing less harm to the planet. We make sure that we recycle all of the things that we have, and we also make sure that were not living wastefully (e.g. We do not buy bottled water). That’s why we’ve been looking around for some veg seeds for our garden. If we can plant and grow our own food, well be able to rest assured that we are not doing any harm to the planet. We’re willing to alter our lifestyle to make sure that were not wasting any money or harming the planet. Some people are not willing to alter their lifestyle to make a difference, but we are not those people. Overall, we think that making a few changes is well worth the inconvenience. If you would like to make sure that you are not hurting the planet, then you may as well follow in our footsteps.

Frequency for Trimming Along Fence Lines

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

I think that I have the best string trimmer, but it seems like I am out there trimming along our fences all of the time. I noticed that my neighbor across the street only trims his fence line every other week. One day, I looked closer at his lawn and realized that he had a different type of grass planted in his yard. While I was there, he came out and we started talking about lawn care. He said that he moved into the neighborhood a few years before me and his fence line needed to be trimmed all of the time. His brother works for a landscaping company and told him that this type of grass grows quickly and that is why the developers of the neighborhood used it. His brother suggested removing the grass and putting down new sod that would grow slower. I asked my neighbor for the phone number of the landscaping company where his brother works so that I could do the same thing.

PLANET Speaks About Lawn Care

Friday, December 31st, 2010

An international association called PLANET or Professional Land-care Association announced that the “green industry” that is being proliferated in the United States has brought about at least $36 million dollars worth of services. The so called “green industry” includes anything that has something to do with lawn care and landscaping. People who work for the industry are those who do lawn care services, landscape architecture, anyone who sells products, materials or equipments used for any profession that has something to do with the “green industry” and the like. At present, about 3000 jobs are generated by the industry per year and overall, the industry earns about $67 million per year. Furthermore, from the Occupational Outlook Handbook released last November 2007, it has been recorded that around 704,000 have been opened due to the increase in demand from the industry. PLANET further emphasizes that 1/6 of all the people who took these jobs only work as a part-timer and do some other things like going to school, raising a child or doing another job. These people do not work for lawn care companies but do their jobs on their own.

Electric Riding Mowers Are a Great Choice

Tuesday, December 21st, 2010

If you are jealous on your neighbors who always seem to have a blast riding their electric mower, maybe it was time you bought an electric riding mower and start competing with them, in a friendly and neighborly manner, of course. This introduction is actually meant to throw a light upon the effectiveness of this mower. It is much easier and cheaper to maintain, as it only requires regular recharges of its batteries that will last for about 75 minutes after a 16-hour recharging session. This might not sound very appealing, but just think about how much grass you will be able to cut in over an hour’s time. Plus, you can say goodbye to that nasty gas smell you were forced to experience each time you needed to refill your old gas powered mower. You get the chance to show everyone what an environment-friendly person you are, by significantly reducing pollution.

Tree Defences Against Termites

Tuesday, December 14th, 2010

In the natural wild, many plants and trees have to cope with termites attacking them. Especially in tropical regions of the world, termites always pose a threat to some kinds of trees, and planted trees outside of natural ecosystems, like in gardens, parks, or beside the road, are especially vulnerable to termite attack. A common sight in tropical countries are trees with damaged bark caused by termites covering their trunks with mud and feeding on them beneath this cover.

So, you will notice some plants and trees have evolved defence mechanisms against termites. Typically, it involves secreting some kind of anti termite chemical in the woody portion of the plant, or tree. These chemicals are oils, resins, and lignins, which repel or trap the termites due to their stickiness. They also contain chemicals which impede the termite’s ability to digest cellulose.

Some trees have very hard wood that termites find very hard to bite into. Ironwood is one such type of wood that is naturally resistant to termites. A log of fallen ironwood can last for hundreds of years without suffering any termite damage.
